William "Spook" Spann
I started deer hunting at age eight or nine and killed my first deer when I was ten. At age thirteen in 1975, my mom bought me my first bow. I only knew six or seven men whom owned a bow. My first day bow hunting I saw a big buck and a doe in our garden, so the next year I had my dad dozier me out a food plot. Since 1976 1 have been farming diligently for whitetails. Sometime in the 1980's, I went to the first ever QDM (Quality Deer Management) meeting in TN and met a very knowledgeable biologist named Grant Woods. We became good friends. The newly gained ideas of manipulating whitetails thru habitat management and passing up younger bucks, was exciting to me. The passion and love to hunt and harvest trophy deer, has grown into the blessed privilege of being able to chase whitetails all over North America. I now own land in Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Kansas and Iowa. I am working daily to improve habitat and food sources on these properties and others. The hard workhas led to the harvest of more than 50 bucks, scoring over 140 inches, 25 of which are over 160, 6 over 170, and my newest blessing of the 230 inch monster I killed in Kansas on my own property. My family's support for my passion of hunting and our love for each other and the outdoors, makes me the luckiest guy in the world. I love hunting with my family. I have a wonderful wife of 22 years, a 14 year old daughter and a 12 year old son. I've been hunting on film for 5 years now. My love for hunting has spread to many other species. I've been privileged to hunt sheep in Mexico, Kyrgyzstan, Texas, British Columbia, Northwest Territories and Alaska. I've hunted elk in Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico, grizzlies and moose in Alaska and B.C. Canada. I have also developed a special love for big mule deer. I have chased them around in Utah, Wyoming, Colorado and Mexico. My biggest so far is a 213 inch monster from Utah with a gun and a 192 typical with a bow. The call of the wild has also lured me to Africa, a place I didn't think I would ever get to see. What a treat to be able to travel there with my wife, kids and my mom and dad. To see and kill a giant male lion and a massive mean cape buffalo, was truly a dream come true. The Lord also blessed my father and I in the survival of a helicopter crash in Kyrgyzstan. On a return flight from a truly remarkable Marco Polosheep hunt, the chopper crashed, killing two men and critically injuring myself and many others. As featured on Dateline NBC, you can link on and check out the story. My love for God, my family and hunting has brought me to a place I thought I would be much older to see. When you get to know me and see my shows, you will see the passion for the outdoors flowing out of me. I hope I get to meet you all someday. Thanks,Spook
